| Interview Preparation |
|
Congratulations! You have made it to the interview stage and here we will give you some suggestions to ensure that your interview is a success!
The success or failure of an interview is often determined before the meeting actually takes place. Your performance in this situation will reflect the thoroughness of your research, as well as the thought and practice you have attributed to the process.
Being prepared for the interview is typically half the battle. You should know very clearly what type of position you are interviewing for, what the requirements are needed for the role, and what responsibilities you might have in the position. If this is unclear to you, make sure you discuss this with the future employer prior to your day of interview.
Before the Interview
Arrival at the Interview
During the Interview Make a good impression - dress for success, have a firm handshake and always maintain eye contact. Conduct yourself professionally – Be courteous and pleasant Answer questions thoroughly – "Yes" "No" answers are not acceptable, elaborate and provide as many details as possible when asked a specific question. Enthusiasm - It is important to demonstrate your enthusiasm and your interest in the position. You can do this by reflecting your knowledge of the employer and by stating your interest in the role on offer and why it is of interest to you. Close of interview – Often at the end of the interview, the employer will ask you ask if there are any skills, qualities or accomplishments that have not been discussed. Take this time to tell the interviewer about any key information that you have not been able to cover during the interview. Use this opportunity to re-emphasise your key attributes for the position, even if you have nothing new to add. Finally, at the close of the interview, it only remains for you to thank the interviewer for his/her time before leaving. |
